Learning to Cope with Tim being on business

So Tim has to do training in Columbus for 6 weeks with his new Honda job. He's already spent 2 weeks there and I don't like it. I've never lived by myself before and it's definitely different. I get lonely and it's not the same talking to my dog. The only good thing is that I get so much more done when he is not here. Our house is cleaner than it has ever been. I've been working on my routines with FlyLady and I make a minimal mess so I've been making progress. I do sleep on the couch in the living room with the kitchen light on because I'm afraid to sleep in our room. Luckily the strange country noises have been kept to a minimum. I'm also so tired with wedding planning, my garden and cleaning that I fall asleep very quickly. I've also been eating microwave meals (the healthy ones) because it's hard for me to just cook for me and I guess it'll help me lose weight before the wedding. Tim has 4 weeks left and then he'll be back for good. And then it'll be 2 weeks from our wedding! I can't believe it! It's been almost a year and a half since we've been engaged. Very excited! But anyways, I'm very proud of myself because I'm being much braver than I'd thought I'd be.

My Puppy Doesn't Listen to Me!

I love my puppy very much but he drives me crazy! He won't listen to me! We have a boxer and he is about 8 months old. His name is Captain and he is generally a good puppy. Meaning that he is not mean or anything. He doesn't listen worth a dime though. He constantly chews on stuff which was really bad for awhile because my house was such a mess there was all kinds of stuff for him to chew on. Especially in our bedroom. He would wake up in the middle of the night and get bored and chew. Now, because of FlyLady, my house is much cleaner and he has less to chew on. The really big problem is that he does not come when I tell him to. We live out in the country and have about an acre of land and no fence. Most people let their dogs roam around here. Captain used to do great and not go very far away. Then he started visiting the dog behind us (it's a girl!) but he would come back. Then he started to visit our neighbor across the street. Now I don't mind that he visits because our neighbor loves him and gives him treats but I don't like him crossing the street. Well the worst is that I let him out to go bathroom and I go to call him back in and he looks at me and then runs away. I cannot catch him! He hops around and is much to quick for me. It drives me crazy! I don't like to let him outside anymore. I started putting him on a leash when he goes to bathroom and I have to take him out (thankfully it's warm now!) and if I'm working outside he goes in his kennel. I even tried taking him outside to play one day and he ran away from me. We also got a kennel instead of putting him in the cage when we leave but he escaped. He pulled the bottom wires apart and got out. We fixed them and he broke them again! We are planning on getting an underground fence as soon as we get some more money. That'll take care of him leaving the yard but I need help on getting him to listen to me. Any tips?

Weddings

Well my wedding is about 6 weeks away and I am so excited! At the same time I am just ready for it to be here. Planning a wedding is really hard and time consuming. I can't even imagine if I was working full-time still. Today I need to go register for gifts. We are registering at 3 different places: Macys, Bed Bath and Beyond and Bass Pro Shop. Bass Pro Shop is for Tim, of course. But did you know that they have really great cooking stuff? They have a whole line of cast iron cookware that I am in love with! So I still get to register for a few things there. It is so overwhelming to register! Trying to decide what you want and what you'll need. We wanted to register for some things that we would never be able to afford ourselves and then of course just things that we needed. Luckily our house is already set up so we have a lot of things but most of them are really cheap and need replacing or hand me downs. Nothing wrong with that but I'm excited to get to pick out my own stuff. I registered for china the other day at Macys. I know that china doesn't seem very frugal and a lot of my friends who are not frugal did not register for china but me and my mom talked about it. She got china when she was married and she uses it for every holiday gathering. It's our tradition. My mom is really big into little traditions like that and she says it is nice to have. Plus if we don't register for it we would probably never be in the position to buy it ourself. The pattern that I registered for is really pretty....not to trendy and not colorful so it will go with everything. Today I'm going to go to Bed Bath and Beyond and register for all of my little kitchen items. I love cooking so kitchen products are a very big deal for me. I get so much use out of all of them. Well that's enough rambling for today. So, when you got married, did you have a registry and what did you register for?

Memorial Day Weekend

It was so great to have Tim home this weekend! We had a great holiday weekend. Very busy! Saturday we went to the Taste of Cincinnati with a few friends and had a great time! We don't get to go out with my friends very much so it was nice to get out. Yesterday we worked on the garden and today Tim's family came over and helped put up the shed. I am so excited that we finally have a shed. We look like hillbillies with all of our lawn equipment and bikes on the side of the yard. Hopefully we'll be able to get all of the tools and Tim's stuff in there.

I had such a great time with our nephews! I can't wait to have kids. Hopefully by next spring I'll be pregnant. I wished they lived closer. It took them an hour and a half to get to us. That's why we don't visit all that much!

This will be a really busy week. I'm thrown off with the holiday today. Tomorrow I volunteer and have my Mary Kay meeting. I have 5 million phone calls to make tomorrow too. Mostly wedding phone calls. These next weeks are going to be crazy. My parents got the invitations out on Saturday so I am so excited. My bridal showers are coming up too! I'm just ready to be married. It's been such a long engagement!

Our Garden is Finally Tilled!

Wow! I didn't even till the garden and I'm exhausted. I love my fiance! He tilled it for me. We borrowed a tiller from our friend. I worked on breaking up the clumps and getting all the grass out. That is hard work! There is so much grass! Tim tilled it twice and I don't want to ask him to do it again because this is his weekend home. I am so excited to get my vegetables in the garden. I know that I am starting very late but better late than never as I see it. My tomatoes are doing good in their containers and I bought a strawberry plant the other day. Who else is doing gardens this year and how are your plants doing? My neighbor's garden doesn't seem to be doing too well. It's been below average weatherwise around here lately. It finally feels warm enough this weekend. I'm going to work as quickly as I can to get the grass out of my garden and then I'll plant the seeds. Wish me luck!
